My name is Robert McGraw and I am a photo grad student in Parkersburg, WV. I enjoy
many different types of photography. I am right now working on my graduate portfolio with the themes of fitness and sports
and railroads.
I started taking pictures in high school working for my school paper using a full
manual 35mm camera. I then went to college to pursue graphic arts. I worked at
the Public Relations Department at Berea for 5 years. I started out as a general student worker for the department, but soon
became a photo coordinator. As photo coordinator not only
did I take and edit photographs, I also trained new photo department employees, scheduled photo assignments, handled all photo
department finances, made sure deadlines were met, scheduled photo shoots, and handled a variety of office tasks.
At Berea College
Public Relations, I gained diverse photojournalistic work experience, everything
from studio to spot to sports/action photography. Photojournalism is always my first love and I try to incorporate a
little of it in my portrait work and fitness work. While working with the college’s PR department, I started working with
the college’s newspaper The Pinnacle as a photographer during my sophomore
year to obtain more experience.
Along with my
college education, I also spent a semester in Italy studying photojournalism and fine art photography and interned at a local
photo studio to gain more portrait and studio experience.
